Pensthorpe Nature Reserve

Pensthorpe is a natural home for many species of birds, mammals, invertebrates and plants. The diverse range of priority habitats together create a stunning rich landscape which Pensthorpe Conservation Trust manages for wildlife. During a visit to Pensthorpe you can see wetlands, hedgerows, woodland, water meadows, riverbanks, species-rich farmland, breck and heath – all vital habitats for a species-rich countryside. The value of the habitats at Pensthorpe are recognised internationally by the E.U. Special Area of Conservation (SAC) designation as well as nationally with four Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) designations. All these designations encompass the River Wensum, a lowland chalk river of significant importance which runs through the heart of the reserve. Burn Valley Vineyard Tasting Tours

Burn Valley Vineyard truly is a family project.  Located in North Creake, just 10 miles from Raynham, two sisters, Laura and Samantha work alongside their brother who farms the land surrounding the vineyard. Growing nine different grape varieties Early Pinot, Rondo, Regent and Pinot Noir make up the red grapes and Bacchus, Chardonnay, Solaris, Seyval Blanc and Schonburger representing the whites.  From this selection they produce a red, white, rose and sparkling wine for your enjoyment.    All wine is grown, harvested, fermented and bottled on site in their brand new winery Tastings take place every Thursday Friday Saturdays from 22nd April 12:00 & 14:30 and must be booked in advance

Watatunga Wildlife Reserve

Conservation today, for wildlife tomorrow. Watatunga is a stunning new wildlife reserve in west Norfolk just 30 minutes from Wild Meadow, Raynham. Situated amongst 170 acres of woodland, grassland, and lakes, Watatunga provides a unique environment for over twenty types of ungulate and rare bird species to roam at their will. The team run breeding programmes for many of the threatened species including the Malayan sambar, hog deer, mountain bongo and the great bustard, a spectacular bird which went extinct in the UK in 1832. Access to the reserve is via electric buggies on a guided tour and must be pre-booked online via the website, watatunga.co.uk.
